Formation & History
The company was established by Letter Patent created by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario under authority from the Ontario legislature by 1949 by David Roland Dattels the father of Stephen and Tim.
How We Operate
Dattels & Co has a 70-year track record starting out as a successful bond and investment dealer led by its founder, the late David Roland Dattels, and, after its acquisition by Stephen and Tim Dattels, is today investing in private start-ups, private equity, and listed securities with a focus on technology and mining. Sourcing opportunities is through the connections and expertise of Stephen and Tim Dattels, as well as David Dattels, the founder of NewGen Asset Management, an employee-owned Alternative Investment Manager based in Toronto.
Administration and operating management are led by Ian Burns, Managing Director of Regent Mercantile Holdings Limited and Krisztian Toth, a senior law partner of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP.

As a family-owned venture capital company our investment process allows us to act quickly when opportunities are presented to us.
We have a mix of passive long-term investments while using our liquidity to trade actively in listed growth stocks and their derivatives to enhance investment returns.
